This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is ideal for families that want to have a fridge and freezer in one. It's not as spacious as high-end French-door models, but it does come with a number of useful features. This is a good choice for those with little space in their homes. The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also a very energy-efficient fridge due to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge, so that it doesn't fluctuate too much, and helps keep your food fresher for longer. Once you have your smart fridge with a hub, smartphone and smart fridge it's a breeze to use. SmartThings allows you to manage your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your phone when it is opened or closed. You can create schedules, alter the temperature and set reminders. SmartThings was a founding member in the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working towards making the most important home appliances from various manufacturers compatible. In the future you can control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV through the same app. While it's not as well used as Alexa and Google Assistant, SmartThings does have some major players on its roster which include Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's compatible with the Matter protocol, which allows accessories to be linked regardless of brand. The best option for most people is to pair Alexa and Google Assistant. It's not as great as the Alexa integration in your fridge, but it's an improvement over last year's model. Besides its features for entertainment and grocery management, Family Hub also acts as a controller for Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be integrated into Matter-compatible devices, like lights, plugs and locks, and you can use the touchscreen to control them as well. Samsung's refrigerator is a few years old and even though it has a lot of functionality, its touchscreen smarts are not a feature that most people would consider an essential feature. These are more of a fun and semi-frivolous addition than anything else. This may change with the release of more software updates, but at present these models are the best for those who wish to have the most comprehensive connected refrigerator possible. You could save money by purchasing an appliance that does not include the Family Hub if you're not one of these people. This could be worth it for you when you have a number of smart home devices that must be controlled via the same screen or if you just enjoy the idea of having a fridge with a giant touchscreen.
